“Moments in Motion; a Moms Memoir” is a year-long series capturing precious details of the stillness and quickness of children and the moments that slip through our hands and away from our memories all too quickly.
I hope others are able to see the children they love, and the memories familiar to them, under the surface of these photographs of my children, seven and four years old. Motivated by the desire to be able to fade into deaths’ grey rain-curtains with an unreasonably long photo album of my children and life in my hands, I decided to finally start capturing at least one image of them per day, starting when the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown first started.
As if the impermanence of life and time wasn’t dreadfully apparent without children, the rapidness of time seems to increase as we watch them grow. For me, it takes my breath away regularly, and fills me with incredible amounts of gratitude and the overwhelming need to preserve it all.
